Warner Bros worked with distributors to ensure there was no name confusion for Friend Request. Therefore, depending on the country you are in, you might see the film title Unfriend, Unknown User or Unknown Error.

The film was considered being made in German, but that idea went right out the window with the casting of English-speaking actors.

While the Friend Request trailer is full of thrills and pulls off some terrific build-up, I can't help but think that this story has been done again and again. On a side not, I'm also beginning to see why Warner Bros was so worried about the film getting confused with Unfriended.

The one thing this film attempts to do is add emphasis to how students handle suicide and what is considered acceptable in the social world. In that regard, it pulls it off pretty well. Faculty and students must come together and discuss how to deal with the loss of a student. A nice sense of realism there--kudos.

It's how this deceased chick comes back to enact retribution on her friends list that comes off somewhat silly. If  the over-the-top ways to die were cut back a bit, the Friend Request would come off a bit more er, chilling. At least it's a good plug for Facebook, right?
