In the near future, hordes of aliens fought a fierce battle against the Earth and now seem invincible: no army in the world has managed to overcome them. Commander William Cage (Tom Cruise) who has never fought in his life, is sent, without explanation, in what looks like a suicide mission. He died in a few minutes and is thrown in a time loop, doomed to relive the same fight and die again forever ... But each burst, Cage gaining strength and agility to confront his opponents, alongside Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), Special Forces agent. While Cage and Rita confront all the aliens, they learn over the fighting are linked, the means to annihilate the invaders.
