Considering that Christopher Nolan has a history with composer Hans Zimmer, it comes as no surprise that the music for Dunkirk will be composed by this very same guy.

When it comes to casting, Nolan is using some of his favorite veterans. This will be Tom Hardy's third film with the director, and Cillian Murphy's fifth collaboration after The Dark Knight films and Inception. What comes as a surprise is to not seeing Michael Caine's name on the credits. The actor has been on Nolan's callsheet ever since Batman Begins.

This film will be the first feature for Christopher Nolan that is not only centered around war, but based on a historical event.

When Warner Bros Pictures goes through their Balance Sheets, I have to assume that the name "Christopher Nolan" appears somewhere near the top or at least mixed in with the studio's various properties. The director slash writer has been so valuable for the studio that we can only assume he is treated like royalty when visiting the lot.

And that definitely shows in this first announcement, we'll just call it a teaser, trailer for Dunkirk. This preview could have shown absolutely nothing from the film save the title font and the closing, "Written and Directed Christopher Nolan," and audiences would have gone nuts. And that's nearly what this first trailer does.

Besides some quick shots, the preview ends on a sequence showing British soldiers reacting when they hear Axis planes diving down on them. It's a fantastic tease, and, considering the film is still filming, enough to wet our appetites.
