Trailer for The Dandelions.

The Dandelions explores the whimsical, enchanting world of la jeunesse. At the center of this delightful film is the alternately shy and spirited Rachel, whose ninth birthday is quickly approaching. Living with her neurotic Jewish mother (Agnès Jaoui), quietly distant father (Denis Podalydès), and sickly grandmother (Judith Magre, Les amants), Rachel feels suffocated at home, preferring the significantly less stressful environment at school. When no one shows up to Rachel’s birthday party except for her spunky, uninhibited classmate Valérie, a true friendship begins to blossom. Co-starring Isabella Rossellini as a child psychiatrist and Isabelle Carré as Valérie’s sexy, single mother, director Carine Tardieu juggles the sincerity, depth and joy of two young girls’ coming-of-age with great ease.
