Trailer for Dreamcatcher.

Brenda Myers-Powell is a powerful force. In a van with the word “Dreamcatchers” emblazoned on its side, she drives through the streets of Chicago in the middle of the night. Outspoken but warm, Myers-Powell calls out from the window of her car to girls standing on the streets, offering them things they might need—a person to talk to, or a box of condoms, perhaps. Having walked the same streets herself for more than 25 years, she knows it’s possible to get out. She’s done it, and she’s determined to help as many women as possible do the same. Through her non-profit Dreamcatcher Foundation (started with her partner Stephanie Daniels-Wilson), she offers counselling services in addition to patrolling the streets at night—all while maintaining separate jobs and raising a family. Myers-Powell’s feisty charisma is captured with remarkable clarity by veteran filmmaker Kim Longinotto. Amidst a world of unimaginable violence and hardship, Myers-Powell is a fearless and unstoppable example of hope.
