Downsizing has been in the pipeline for quite a while. Pre-Production actually began back in 2009, but the project was put on hold when Director Alexander Payne decided to go forward with The Descendants instead. He then later started working on Nebraska.

There is quite the list of actor and actresses that were previously attached to this movie: Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, Paul Giamatti, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Downsizing reunites Director Alexander Panye and Writer Jim Taylor. It will be their seventh writing collaboration following Citizen Ruth, Election, About Schmidt, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, Jurassic Park III, and Sideways.

What an interesting concept! And great timing with all the talk everyday about over population and global warming. A continuous hot topic is how humans are destroying planet Earth and what better way to preserve our planet than shrinking everyone down so they consume less and their destruction towards the environment is minute.

Downsizing is a much more sophisticated version of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, much more...which by the way I loved watching as a kid, even as cheesy it is today. But you have to wonder why Ant-Man does not prefer his tiny life, there are drawbacks.

Watching this trailer I kept waiting for the negative effect to happen. The trailer makes downsizing look like the perfect alternative, but there has to be something that happens to Matt Damon and Kristen Wiig's characters that takes this film in a new direction.

Are you ready to be downsized?
