Trailer for the documentary Desert Dreams.
The Sonoran Desert, which sprawls from Palm Springs to Tucson then southward deep into Mexico, is no desert. It teems with life. Punctuated by the vertical dignity (and floral beauty) of cacti, this documentary delivers sensational experiences of the natural world untrammeled by Homo sapiens. A bat in flight plunges its head into a flower. A giant reptile slowly swallows quail eggs while the frantic mother fusses helplessly nearby. Lightning storms hammer the land, liberating hyper-excited frogs. It took Tucson resident Thomas Weiwandt four years to gather these amazing images and organize them as the portrait of a single year. Best of all, there is no voice-over narration. It's just you and a wondrous world you likely never could have imagined.
