Trailer for the documentary Decoding Dacia.
The documentary revisits the unresolved question of "Who are the Dacians?" It explores, too, the Roman Emperor Trajan's six-year long two-campaigns against Dacia and its King Decebalus between 101 and 106 AD. The documentary also compares a Communist-era depiction of the Dacian people (Romania's present-day territory) turned into a narrow propagandist view with a more objective-view pieced together by evidence, research, and studies cumulated over many decades. Created as the third in a series entitled "Romania at War," the documentary production was launched in January 2011 by Nicholas Dimancescu. In May of that year while filming above Cioclovina Cave, he tragically died in a fall from a high cliff. Inspired by his passion for exploring his Romania origins, his family and film company colleagues determined to complete his film.
