Teaser trailer for Dear White People.
Dear White People follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular 'African American' themed party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film explores racial identity in 'post-racial' America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world. A satire about being a black face in a very white place.
Film won the "Breakthrough Talent Award" during its run at the Sundance Film Festival.
The use of Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Little Swans" from "Swan Lake" is absolutely genius here, especially since the musical piece kicks off with a hilarious face from the ticket usher. Classic! My only complaint is that they didn't run "Dance" through the entire preview, as it would have continued to work.
But all is forgiven, as the Gremlins analogy is too funny for words.
