Cop Car Trailer (2015)

Trailer for Cop Car.

A pair of ten-year-olds find an abandoned cop car in a field. When they take it for a joyride, it seems like they could kill themselves at any moment. But things only get worse when the small town sheriff goes looking for his missing car. The kids find themselves in the center of a deadly game of cat and mouse they don't understand and the only way out is to go as fast as their cop car can take them.

Kyra Sedgwick, who happens to be Kevin Bacon’s wife in real life, is credited as the dispatch voice. The two actors have appeared in seven movies together, including Murder in the First and The Woodsman.

The director of Cop Car, Jon Watts has been tapped to direct the newest Spider-Man film. This will be his first big-budget feature. The newest Spider-Man film, which is expected to be released in 2017 will follow a new story concerning young Peter Parker (Tom Holland).

When Cop Car premiered on August 9th, 2015, it opened on only 3 screens. Because of the limited release, the film ended up only making $128,000 at the box office.

Cop Car Trailer Screencap

Cop Car has all the makings for an entertaining thrill ride, and the trailer pulls no punches. Opening with a quiet scene of two kids discovering an abandoned cop car and becoming bold and mischievous by taking the police cruiser on a joyride, which leads to the promise of a hyper-intense thriller about a corrupt cop.

It is like The Client, Joy Ride and Training Day all thrown into one blender and sifted through an indie film strainer. The trailer gives just enough information to make audiences want more. What’s in the trunk?! What is Kevin Bacon trying to keep secret other than his ability to remain awesome in every movie he makes? The eerie Coen brothers-style cinematography and music accompanied by the always creepy police radio with a mysterious voice (Mysterious for the kids, we know it is Kevin Bacon) emanating from who knows where?

The setting of a small town where no resident would question the credibility and honor of a Sheriff. Camryn Manheim pops up as a woman who seems to want to help the kids out and protect them from that up-to-no-good Sheriff. I have not thought about Camryn Manheim in years and didn’t really miss her, but I’m glad to see her now that I am reminded of her existence. The trailer is chock-full of exciting possibilities and nerve racking developments. With the promise of violence and full throttle action, Cop Car appears to be just the kind of adrenaline pounding flick worth a viewing.
