Coco Theatrical Trailer (2017)

Theatrical trailer for Pixar's Coco.

Despite his family's generation-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel and his dog Dante find themselves in the Land of the Dead. Along the way, they meet charming trickster Hector and together they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

Pixar ran into a bit of drama in regards to the film's name for Brazil distribution. It turns out that "coco" could be translated into "shit", so the studio changed the film's name to Viva for Brazilian audiences. And let's not forget, the film already had to experience one title change when Disney tried to trademark the name Dia de los Muertos.

Coco represents the fourth Pixar film for Cheech Marin, but his first outside the Cars franchise.

After the "disappointment" that was Cars 3, Pixar is putting a bit of extra pressure on Coco becoming a hit. Using a somewhat Book of Life formula, but with further-rounded corners, the studio hopes audiences will show some forgiveness with this Day of the Dead tale.
