The adhan is the Muslim call to prayer, recited by a muezzin at a mosque five times each day. After 60 generations, thousands of individuals are being replaced by a single muezzin’s voice broadcast from a radio station. Cairo in One Breath follows muezzins from when they first heard rumors of the Adhan Unification Project through to its implementation, which since 2010 has displaced thousands.
