One of the year’s most charming surprises, this life-affirming comic drama stars veteran Filipino superstar Eddie Garcia as Rene, an elderly, hilariously cantankerous gay man who has only come out while in his 70s. Rene lives alone in the countryside with his faithful dog, Bwakaw. Instead of enjoying life and looking for love and companionship in the human world, he spends too much time thinking about death. In one of the film’s running jokes he makes repeated changes to his will. Rather than enjoying his belongings, he keeps them boxed up and marked for those he intends to inherit them.
When Rene develops a friendship with Sol, a tough-looking tricycle taxi driver, he discovers a new zest for life. To the astonishment of his neighbors and former colleagues, he even gets his has hair dyed to look younger. Garcia, now in his 80s, delivers the performance of a lifetime. Not to be missed.
