Tyler Perry will write, produce, direct, and star in the latest project with the popular character Madea. "In Boo! A Madea Halloween," Madea winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.
So far the coolest thing about Boo! A Madea Halloween is how Tyler Perry conceived the idea. The director slash actor slash producer was watching the Chris Rock film Top Five. In the film there is a joke where Chris Rock's character enters a theater and sees high demand for a Tyler Perry production that has Madea in a haunted house. The faux film was even titled Boo!
Having never been a Madea fan, let me open up by calling this film stupid. Departing from any sense of realism, Tyler Perry has taken the Wayans Brothers route of favoring spoofs and parodies. While I do get the humor of the director following through on a joke started by Chris Rock, that's where our respect of this project ends.
What's even sadder. The Boo! A Madea Halloween teaser trailer ends with a promotion for... a completely different film! We cut that off, but it was pretty desperate to have it there.
