Ryan Coogler is Black Panther's Director. You should recognize the other films he previously was also at the helm for: Creed and Fruitvale Station. He is also slated to Direct Wrong Answer which will too star Michael B. Jordan, who has been in all of Coogler's films.

Before landing the role of Blade, Wesley Snipes wanted to play the Black Panther back in the 90s, and even had gone to Columbia Pictures with a script.

The Black Panther was originally created in July 1966, two months before the founding of the Black Panther Party. But due to confusion and people assuming the comic character's name referenced the Party, he was renamed the Black Leopard; however neither the readers nor the creators cared for that title and it didn't last for long.

This is a very well designed trailer. The first half is a slow build of the story and characters and then we are thrown in the action packed nature we expect in a Marvel film. There are tons of beautiful sequences and the costumes look amazing.

The story and the battle between Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan's characters look to be great. Typically in a large super hero film, the story falls flat and is an after thought, but here it is front and center and looks to draw you into the film. It is also great to see the CGI mastermind Andy Serkis again in the flesh.

Black Panther is getting his chance to shine in the Marvel cinematic universe and it will be up to audiences to see if they fall in love with him like they have Captain America, Iron Man, Thors, etc. This trailer should at least get fans excited to Black Panther fight to defend Wakanda.
