Claire and Lisa Walker are neurotic sisters on the run who assume the identities of Internationally renowned poets The Wilding Sisters to take refuge at a Poetry Retreat for the weekend; spending time in the black mountains of Wales amongst poets and the inspiration of nature leads to a new beginning for our heroines.
The low-budget comedy had a great festival run, with fans and critics departing from the 2015 Edinburgh Film Festival in agreement--the film is hilarious. With all the international love, it makes sense that Metrodome would pick up Black Mountain Poets for distribution.
With all the feedback explaining that the film is a "riot", the Black Mountain Poets trailer somewhat fails at making us laugh. Unless I'm just not getting the English humor, or the trailer has decided to leave a lot of the er, "edgy", comedy out, I'm not seeing what everybody else saw in Edinburgh. Maybe a red band trailer is in our future?
Either way, the film's running time is only 85 minutes, meaning not much to risk in my exploration of why everybody thought Black Mountain Poets was so funny.
