Black Block Trailer (2012)

They went to Genoa for the 2001 G8 Summit to be heard, to complain, to disrupt, to demonstrate. But they got too close, bothering those in power to the point of violent confrontation. A group of protesters relive their painful experiences at the Diaz School, a crash pad used during the Summit that became the scene of a savage raid by local police. Woken by screams and blows, Muli, Lena, Niels, Mina, Michael, Dan and Chabi recall the total fear, lawlessness and panic of the event. Their testimonies are raw and urgent, and don’t feel at all set in the past. The activists are traumatized but they refuse to give up or give in to fear, finding new ways of taking action and speaking out. Black Block is a firsthand lesson of the repression and control practiced in the name of democracy.
