A nobleman, Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), is falsely accused of an assassination attempt by his childhood friend and adoptive brother Messala (Toby Kebbell). He survives years of slavery under the Romans and attempts to get revenge by challenging his adoptive brother in a grand chariot race while being forever changed after a series of encounters with Jesus of Nazareth.
I like the soft opening to the trailer and then you hear the iconic voice of Morgan Freeman. He has the most amazing voice and it fits in perfectly with the biblical nature of this film.
Of course the one thing I want to see when I think of a Ben-Hur film is the chariot race. What concerns me is the use of too much CGI for the race. I wish they could do the whole sequence using practical effects...a la Mad Max: Fury Road.
I also worry that the story line may be too slow leading up the race, but that will have to be seen.
Now, behold, I release you today from the chains on your hands. (Jeremiah 40:4)
