Father Figures Feature Trailer

Feature Trailer for Father Figures, previously known as Bastards.

Upon learning that their mother has been lying to them for years about their allegedly deceased father, two fraternal twin brothers hit the road in order to find him.

The film has already gone through some major changes with its title and release date. The film's original title was Bastards and  it was originally set to release on January 27, 2017. But was pushed back to December 22, 2017.

Director Lawrence Sher is a veteran cinematographer and has assembled a veteran behind the scenes team including director of photography John Lindley (“St. Vincent”), production designer Stephen H. Carter (art director, “Birdman”), editor Dana E. Glauberman (“Draft Day”), and two-time Oscar nominated costume designer Julie Weiss (“Frida,” “Twelve Monkeys”). The music was composed by Rob Simonsen (“Foxcatcher”). 

Father Figures look like the fun comedy ride that we rarely see anymore. With Owen Wilson in the starring role, you cannot help but think of Wedding Crashers, one of the best comedies of all time. While Father Figures does not look to approach that level (Vince Vaughn has tough shoes to fill), this film looks to have the parts put together for a successful comedy.

The good news is the team that has been assembled for this film from the actors to the people behind the scenes. Director Lawrence Sher has a series of veterans helping her behind the camera from production design to editing to costume design to the composer. This is amazing for the first time Director which should have made her job that much easier. And then you add a veteran cast from the stars to the slew of cameos...all of which bring name recognition.

The one variable here is the screenplay, which comes from first time Writer Justin Malen. But like I said before...even though this is technically going to be his first feature, has quite the lineup of films in the pipeline after Bastards: Baywatch, Office Christmas Party, Wished and Bad Teacher 2. I think it looks like a fun comedy which I look forward to seeing...the only question is if I see it in theaters or my living room.
