It's been thirteen years since the first Bad Santa, which means that "The Kid" from the first installment is now drinking age at twenty-two years old. And yes, Brett Kelly will be making an appearance in the sequel. Not to disappoint fans of the original, but Brett Kelly is not nearly as fat as he once was and, if you saw him in public, you wouldn't recognize him today.

Since the teaser trailer for Bad Santa 2 is short, might as well keep the critique short as well. With that being said, there are three things that stand out.

Since (real) teaser trailers are so rare nowadays, we have to at least appreciate the fact that Miramax and Broad Green Pictures kept this preview as a pure tease. If it wasn't for the last 5 seconds, we wouldn't even be sure if actual footage from the film was shown. And that is if that ending sequence was from the film and not just for the trailer. In short, this teaser is definitely that.

The first Bad Santa used holiday and classical music perfectly during particular sequences. I will never forget the scene showing Billy Bob Thornton attempting to open a safe while Tony Cox attempts to chop down a mannequin, all to a great mixed tape of instrumentals. Since I can only hope that the sequel would enjoy the same selection music, I'm glad to hear orchestrated holiday tunes in the teaser.

And, finally, the shot of Willie (Thornton) slumped over features some old school Christmas lights in the background. I know, it means little for the production, but those lights have been impossible for me to find -- small LEDs are everywhere -- and I loved growing up with those big, non-LED, Christmas lights.
