Tyrese Gibson Walks Back Threat To Quit Fast 9 Over Rock Beef

The past two to three months has been littered with passive aggressive and outright derogatory social media posts from Tyrese Gibson taking aim at his supposed colleague Dwayne Johnson. The actor has been left incensed by the studio's decision to give The Rock's character Luke Hobbs a spinoff, forcing Fast 9 to be delayed by 12 months.

This has all played out behind the scenes and between takes of the blockbuster franchise, but just as the property's leading figure Vin Diesel eventually buried the hatchet publicly with The Rock, so now has Gibson. There is still a sense of animosity and angst, but Gibson has said that he has accepted the state of affairs.

For now.

No Love For "Candy Ass" Dwayne But Tyrese Will Stop Launching Online Attacks

What would eventually force the hand of the studio would be a barrage of posts that took childish pot shots at Johnson. Such was the intensity of the messages, Gibson went as far to say he would abandon the series.

"I'm sorry to announce that if Dewayne (sic) is in Fast9 there will no more Roman (Pearce) (sic)," Gibson wrote. "You mess with family and my daughters survival I mess with yours......... close your eyes dude you're a 'Clown.'"

That threat was followed by a red carpet image of Gibson with the late Paul Walker and Johnson, although one of the those parties would be deliberately cropped out of view.

"Cropped #ShaylaRocks the real #CandyAssIsWearingBlack."

Then would arrive the announcement. There is no apology or change in Gibson's attitude towards Johnson, just an acceptance that he needs to move on.

"Want you guys to know I had a real Heart to Heart with one of Dewayne's associates and this will be my last post about him. I repeat my last. I respect the associate who called. My story will never change I was never DJ's Co-Star. I'm Shayla's Father first. Justin Lin is back in the driver seat that's exciting cause it's going to feel like the true #FastFamily all over again. When we see Justin we see Paul."

Custody Battle Closure Gives Gibson Chance To Move On

Clearly there is more going on in Gibson's life than just the Fast and Furious franchise. His daughter Shayla has been caught amid an ugly custody battle between Gibson and his ex-partner Norma Gibson, but now the Department of Child and Family Services has closed its investigation into allegations of child abuse against the actor.

This is what he had to say to the news to E! Online

"After 9 years of working extremely hard to co-parent our child, I am disappointed to learn that the mother of my daughter has made gross and false accusations against my character in a shameful attempt to ruin our co-parenting efforts. There is nothing I love more in this world than my daughter and I would never do anything to harm her well-being or happiness. Co-parenting is tough and it's unfortunate when your partner tries to sabotage the situation with hurtful lies and irrational behavior."
