Samuel L. Jackson Talks Split 2 and The Incredibles 2 Sequels

Sitting down with Collider on the media rounds for Kong: Skull Island, Samuel L. Jackson opened up on a number of projects in the works. But the first question out of the gate was his involvement in the MonsterVerse blockbuster, as director Jordan Vogt-Roberts brought the performer into the fold with the enticement of some extra sightseeing.

"He (Vogt-Roberts) had this whole big book presentation, you know with gorgeous location pictures and ideas on what Kong was, what he was doing, what happened on the island," said Jackson. "All of these visuals - the water buffalo, the big dragonfly. I'm a fan of monster movies. I want to do one. When someone says 'King Kong' I say, 'When do we start?'"

Going into more depth about his love affair with monster movies, he offered something of a hint as to his involvement in another such project.

"S*** The Blob - which I'm still supposed to be doing," he outlined. "At some point. They keep moving the date back. I heard yesterday, 'OK I think they're going to do The Blob finally.' It's like, OK, good. I'm still anxious to get there and do it."

Split 2/Incredibles 2 In The Works

Samuel L. Jackson Frozone

Ahead of the June 15, 2018 premiere, Jackson discussed the part he has in The Incredibles 2, an animated feature that will reprise his voiceover role as Lucius Best/Frozone.

"I've been to the studio one day so far," he admitted. "I don't know if that's like a dedicated recording or prerecording so they can start to animate against what I said or whatever but I think it's going to be pretty awesome. Everyone has been waiting a pretty long time to see what Jack-Jack turned into."

The chat quickly turned to the unexpected franchise from M. Night Shyamalan, seeing his Split feature turn into a sequel for his 2000 hit Unbreakable.

"I always thought Unbreakable 2 was possible," he remarked. "I got a call and he (M. Night Shyamalan) said, 'Call me, I wanna talk to you about something.' I called him cause I always do... He said, 'I just did this film called Split and I want you to see it.' I was like, 'OK, alright. I'm down with that.' I had no idea what Split was about or anything else. He said, 'We'll talk after you see it.' I went to the arranged screening and called him immediately. I was like, 'Does this mean what I think it means?' He was like, 'First we gotta see how the movies does.' I think the movie has done well enough to - let's put the movie together."

The 68-year old would earn his start in 1972's Together for Days but it wouldn't be until the early 1990s with titles including Patriot Games and Menace II Society that Jackson would earn mainstream recognition. The good news for us is that the movies keep on rolling for one of Hollywood's true legends.
