The Rock: R-Rated Baywatch Going All Out On Butts, Boobs and Nudity

Memorial Day weekend should be a time for somber reflection, but it is also a chance for Hollywood studio's to exploit swarms of moviegoers. That will be the case when Baywatch hits cinemas on May 26 as Dwayne Johnson takes the lead from the hit 90s television series starring David Hasselhoff.

44-year old Rock continues to be a workaholic as he transitions from The Fate of the Furious to this title, before fronting up again for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the wrestling comedy Fighting with My Family and the video game adaptation Rampage. Speaking with The Sun this week about his take on the lifeguard profession, the actor explained that the movie will stick true to his promise in 2015 that this will be a rude, crude and cheeky R-rated take on the series.

This Is Not Daytime TV Folks: Dwayne

Showcased in prime time television two decades ago, Baywatch was able to suggest a lot of sexual innuendo without ever crossing the line. As far as 2017's Baywatch is concerned, the filter has been lifted and the adults will come out to play.

"We are far dirtier than the show ever was, obviously the show was a family show on at family time of day, but in the movie we could have been dirtier," Johnson asserted. "I think people are going to be shocked that Baywatch has got dirty, but there are a lot of laughs. We worked hard to make sure the flesh quota was high, there's more gratuitous boobs, bums, abs, whatever per minute than you can imagine. Plot was important, don't get me wrong, but so was sorting out our slow motion runs."

The Rock's co-star Zac Efron might have been thought of as a teenage heartthrob as he emerged with High School Musical and 2009's 17 Again, but the 29-year old California native is now considered such a sex symbol, he had eyes glaring away from Johnson and onto himself.

"There's less chest hair though but I like to think I have done the TV show justice in other ways," said the former WWE star. "We have The Hoff on board keeping that vibe going. The ladies were too impressed for my liking with Zac's body when he was filming. They thought he'd sprayed on his abs. I'd like to say that's true but I have to give him credit, he worked hard. We all wanted to keep the airbrushing budget low."
