New Disney Release Dates for Star Wars 9, Frozen 2 and Indiana Jones 5

With Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford jumping back into the hot seat for a new adventure via Indiana Jones 5, the duo will be an extra year older than their current ages of 70 and 74 respectively. Disney this week has made a slew of new announcements on dates slated for their installments. Ranging from that action adventure franchise to Star Wars IX, Frozen 2, Wreck-It Ralph 2 and more.

It has been 9 years and counting since the serviceable but unspectacular Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hit cinemas in 2008. Since that period, David Koepp has been developing the screenplay. And he will now be afforded an extra 12 months to work his magic thanks to the changes at Disney HQ.

Indy Surely Will Be In Retirement By 77, Right?

While Shia LaBeouf was earmarked as a potential successor to Ford playing Mutt Williams/Henry Jones III in the fourth film, other names like Chris Pratt have been bandied around to fulfill Ford's sizeable shoes and legacy. Given his age at 77 when number 5 will hit theaters, Ford will truly be an elder statesman of the story as Collider ran through the alterations to their features:

Han Solo Wedged In Between Episodes 8 and 9

Setting the previous box office record courtesy of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015, it would take a remarkable performance from The Fate of the Furious to overhaul their takings for an opening weekend. Despite taking a backseat in those stakes, Disney are ensuring that fans are able to get their fix of Jedi's, Wookies and Rebel forces fighting the Empire with this subtle shift in scheduling.

As Star Wars: The Last Jedi will open just prior to Christmas in 2017, the spinoff Han Solo: A Star Wars Story will arrive inside 6 months on May 25, 2018. That leaves Episode IX to fall almost a year after that installment for the summer of 2019.
