Janelle Monae Latest To Be Linked With Domino Role For Deadpool 2

Seeming a near certainty that Kerry Washington would take on the part of Neena Thompson/Domino for the upcoming Deadpool 2 extravaganza, a new contender has emerged out of obscurity. 31-year old singer/songwriter Janelle Monae is the latest to be thrown into contention following strong supporting appearances in two titles nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Just in case you were inclined to miss the awards show, the films were the nominated Hidden Figures and the eventual winner Moonlight.

The casting for this position has seen a litany of names be linked. From Australian Ruby Rose to Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Sienna Miller, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lizzy Caplan, Sofia Boutella, Stephanie Sigman and Sylvia Hoeks. Given the desire from the studio to secure an actress in her 20s to early 30s, Monae is a better fit than the 40-year old Washington. Especially if the role will be recurring.

JM A Badass Worthy of Deadpool 2

The lady carries herself with a certain swagger that would fit well into the tone of the Marvel installment, with the character needing to play off well with Reynolds and develop chemistry that comes through to the audience. Before breaking out in 2016 on the big screen, Monae had smaller voiceover roles in productions like Rio 2 and American Dad. Intimating that the performer wanted more than just a stage and music career for herself.

Her three albums to date have been lauded by critics for providing a fresh pop sound that carries hints of R&B, art rock, funk, soul and punk. Starting with 2003's 'The Audition' to 2010's 'The ArchAndroid' and 'The Electric Lady', which was released in 2013, the girl from Kansas has switched her attention to the world of cinema. And, should she get the position alongside Reynolds, the opportunities will continue to roll in.

Wolverine vs. Deadpool Is Happening, But Not How We Would Like

If Internet trolling was a suitable environment to showcase a battle for the ages, then Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are providing the crossover we've been waiting for. Out on the press circuit and red carpet promoting Logan, the 48-year old Australian took a picture of himself with the diehard fans in Beijing.

Quoting the image with Jackman looking pretty pleased with himself, Reynolds remarked, "Pretty sure those are protestors." A few days earlier Jackman posted an image of a Logan mural painted on a wall in his local country. Only for the Merc with the Mouth to quip yet again, "I have one of these murals on the hood of my car. Best decision ever."

Thanks for an amazing visit Beijing! @wponx @20thcenturyfox
