Donald Glover Producing Adult Animated Deadpool TV Series For FXX

Since 1991, Deadpool has been one of the best superheroes in the comic universe. In 2016 the Merc with the Mouth finally found his footing courtesy of Ryan Reynolds and Fox. And now the character is said to get his own animated television series.

Donald Glover of Atlanta, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, Community and Childish Gambino fame will have the duties of writer and executive producer alongside Stephen Glover. The multi-faceted 33-year old performer appears to be developing a strong connection to Marvel. As he is set to appear in an untitled role for the upcoming blockbuster Spider-Man: Homecoming, all before taking the reigns of this adult animation series for FXX, Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios.

Marvel: DG Has Same Creative License As Legion

Co-President of Original Programming at FX Networks and FX Productions Nick Grad said that Glover will be able to create something entirely of his own making, much in the same vein as FX's other Marvel show Legion.

“Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta,” said Grad. “With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Executive producer Jeph Loeb could not hide his excitement at adapting the popular character for an R-rated series next to Glover.

“How much more fun could this be?" he rhetorically asked. "Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth! We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

Winter Is Coming For New Mutants

Wolfsbane Maisie Williams New Mutants

While Sophie Turner has made the transition from HBO's Game of Thrones to the Marvel world with a role as Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, her co-star Maisie Williams will follow in her footsteps. Featuring in the upcoming X-Men spinoff New Mutants, Williams will link up with her Stark sister to play the part of Wolfsbane.

The character is said to be “a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf,” according to THR.

The Josh Boone picture is slated for a US release date of April 13, 2018 as speculation goes into overdrive regarding additional Game of Thrones cast members joining the fold.
