Compiling two very different but relevant lists in the world of cinema, the website IMDb has just released the 10 most popular breakout actors searched for online as well as the most popular overall. Females dominate their male counterparts, with one star of the hit Netflix television series Stranger Things making both top 10s.
Popularity can be read any number of ways but one common denominator is that these actors are all incredibly busy with big budget productions on the small and big screen. 5 years ago many of these performers were nobodies, a stark contrast to who they are today.
Robbie Romps In Top Gong
Taking the overall honors for 2016 is Australia's own Margot Robbie. Coming fresh off her stellar performance as Harley Quinn in DC's Suicide Squad after roles in The Legend of Tarzan, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Focus and Z for Zachariah, the 26-year old can clearly be considered a superstar within her industry.
Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke follows suit in second while Tom Hardy is the highest ranking male in 4th spot in front of Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot. Leonardo DiCaprio rounds out the top 10 with the Academy Award winner being prominent this year via The Revenant and the climate change documentary Before the Flood.
