In this tense drama, set in Nazi-occupied Athens, the apartment of the Helianos family is commandeered by Captain Kalte, an exacting German officer. The family avoids the wrath of the invading army by submitting to the Captain as his personal servants, the father watching helplessly as his son is brutally disciplined and his young daughter becomes fascinated by the encroaching officer. When it seems the family is at their breaking point, a message to the Captain from Germany could bring about the end of their servitude, one way or another.
