Feature Trailer for Annihilation.

A biologist's husband disappears. She puts her name forward for an expedition into an environmental disaster zone, but does not quite find what she's expecting. The expedition team is made up of the biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, a surveyor, and a linguist.

The movie is based on Jeff VanderMeer's 2014 book "Annihilation". It is the first in a series of three books called the Southern Reach Trilogy. The book describes a team of four women (a biologist, an anthropologist, a psychologist, and a surveyor) who set out into an area known as Area X. The area is abandoned and cut off from the rest of civilization. They are the 12th expedition. The other expeditions have been fraught with disappearances, suicides, aggressive cancers, and mental trauma. Jeff VanderMeer's novel won the 2015 Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 2014 Shirley Jackson Award for best novel.

This will be just Alex Garland's second time in the Director chair. His first film was Ex-Machina. Alex has also written screenplays for Ex Machina, Dredd, 28 Days Later, Never Let Me Go and Sunshine.

Unlike the first trailer we get our first look at the monsters inside Area X. There was a lot of talk about the dangers inside the unknown area and I feel that was much more thrilling than actually now seeing the crocodile like monster.

If you are a fan of the Jurassic Park franchise, then this is right up your alley. Annihilation bridges the sci-fi world with the thrills and scares people are used to in scary dinosaur films. For me, I am up in the air on this one. While the premise and the actors all seem very promising, I worry that after now seeing the "crocodile" monster, there may be too much cheese.
