Almost Christmas tells the festive story of a beloved patriarch who asks his family for one gift this holiday season: to get along. If they can honor that wish and spend five days under the same roof without killing one another, it will be a Christmas miracle.
It's an interesting thing to see your favorite actors (and actresses) age before your eyes. Even though Danny Glover has aged wonderfully -- the dude looks good -- he loves playing up how old he is. It's a troubling look for a kid who remembers him being sprightly in Witness or the Lethal Weapon franchise. Remember when he used to always say, "I'm getting too old for this shit." It was great, but feels a bit more depressing when he does a throwback to it in this trailer.
Forgive my judgment, and this could just be due to my upbringing in a large family with its own doses of holiday drama, but the trailer for Almost Christmas just seems like a dose of [over the top] family drama that is not my idea of escape when going to the theaters.
Yeah, having an alcoholic in the family is sure to bring some laughs I guess, but I grew tired of the film during the trailer's two-minute-plus running time, so not sure I could last the 100-plus-minute duration in theaters.
