What Would It Take?

The role of Gail Harris is an important one. Playing the mother who must deal with the emotional toil of recovering her son, the part was only offered to the best of actresses. The production team first reached out to Angelina Jolie, who declined. Next up was Natalie Portman, who also had to pass thanks to the fact that she was pregnant. Michelle Williams, who continues to impress in her most recent roles, seemed like the obvious next, if not first, choice.

Director Ridley Scott actually worked with Balthazar Getty on the 1996 feature White Squall. Balthazar is the son of John Paul Getty III, the exact same Getty who was kidnapped.

While I have to confess that the story of John Paul Getty III didn't all that much interest me when I first heard of the production, the trailer for All the Money in the World looks downright captivating. Excellent music choice, and mixing, along with a late reveal of Kevin Spacey as John Paul Getty, seems to drive home a drama slash thriller worthy of a theatrical viewing.

Michelle Williams of course looks excellent, as does the entire cast.
