Trailer for A Dinner for Them to Meet.

A comedy, as lacerating as it is comical, set in the present day, in Rome, at Christmas time with its shimmering lights. In this atmosphere, actor Sandro Lanza is going through what is definitely the most difficult period of his life.

Over the past few years he has lost not only his hair, his friends, but above all that flippant, often cruel, smart mouth with which he could always turn any situation to his own advantage. Today, after ten years, he is no longer the star of his TV series. In fact, his appearances have become quite few and far between, and his role has now dwindled to a bit part. When Sandro has a rather disastrous plastic surgery operation, he decides to play the card of an "announced" suicide. He hopes this might get him some publicity in the glossy magazines. Of course, of all the forms of blackmail, this must be the vilest, and surely the least dangerous.

He is hospitalized and his three daughters rush to his bedside. They are all by different mothers and live scattered in various cities in Europe. Until then, Sandro’s relationship has been weak – if not inexistent – with them. There is Ines, a journalist in Paris; Clara, a young pediatrician in Spain married to Federico; and Betty, the youngest, who lives in Rome and is married to Matteo.

And thus the three sisters are reunited, after many years, in Betty’s sumptuous villa to discuss what to do about their father. And, for the first time, they establish a true relationship. We intuit immediately that Sandro Lanza will recover. That he must urgently change his life is just as obvious. And his three daughters, though almost total strangers, come up with a great idea. The only idea that a woman could have in these circumstances: that is, to have their father meet just the right person, a woman totally different from any other he has ever known. And they have Alma Kero in mind, such an honest, cultured, intelligent, independent, reassuring woman. Just the kind of woman Sandro Lanza has always fled.

Little does he know, however, that his daughters are already organizing a dinner for them to meet...
