Lucas and Heather have grown up as the closest of childhood friends. During their high school years the bond that ties them together transcends friendship and developes into true love. Lucas' father, the wealthiest man in town, has higher aspirations for his son and forbids Lucas to become part of Heather's life. Love abounds as Lucas and Heather reaffirm their undying love for each other...

Heather learns she is pregnant and tells Lucas when he is on his way to the big state championship game. He excitedly promises her that he is ready to do the right thing, get married, as he is deeply in love with her. He wants to share his life with her despite his father's objections. Lucas is seriously injured during the game and rushed to the hospital in a coma where he remains for more than a year. When Heather gives birth to their son, Lucas' parents initially refuse to believe he fathered the child. As Lucas awakens from his coma and returns home, his road to recovery brings him back to the frustrations he endured prior to the accident. Faced with a multitude of challenges, Lucas must search his inner soul to discover what matters most in his life.

Amidst a huge wedding setting, Lucas's parents are excited and pleased that he is finally going to marry the "right girl," whose father manages the town bank. But when Heather arrives with the baby, the wedding turns into utter chaos. Lucas, with the help of his friends, unleashes his plan to ultimately allow everyone to forgive the past, accept the present, and embrace the future.
