My wife and I dont get to go to the theatre often, and the last time we did was for Harry Potter. when we were sitting there before the movie watching the trailers, offering brief commentary between previews, i saw this kid being carried by something.
then i saw the shadow with the horns, then i heard the song start playing.
rarely do movie trailer affect me, but this one did....
profoundly.
this was one of my fave books as a kid (also loved "My Side of the Mountain") that i read all the time.
in 2 minutes i went from anticipating Harry Potter to little boy, giddy at the thought of this movie.
I can see Spike Jonzr loves this story as much as i do and he'll do it justice.
by the way Jeff_in_LA my kids know its a book. because i read to them. something parents should do. sorry you were stunted by illiterate parents.
everytime i read this to my sons it takes about 5 minutes to look at everything on each page. we rarely finish it in less than an hour. maybe if you had some imagination you could see how a 48 page book with 10 minutes of text could translate to a feature film. thats why Spike Jonze is a director and youre a barrista.
