Those who are stuck in the past are doomed to be bored to death. Basil Rathbone, Jeremy Brett, Christopher Plummer, Johnny Depp, Rupert Everett....and now Robert Downey Jr. SO WHAT!!!!! Let the director do what he is supposed to do....direct us to his vision, hopefully new and arresting, and drag us out of the belief that new is not good. I'm so tired of people moaning and complaining that "fings ain't what they used ter be....." Well, face it, they AIN'T.
I'm WAY past the age of consent, and I appreciate new images shaking the cobwebs off of old memories. Sure Shakespeare was great watching with the groundlings, but wasn't TITUS a beautiful collage of old, new and surreal? I'm bored. Astonish me......thank you M. Cocteau.
