After reading more and more of the comments posted here, im just going to say it. Some of you people have absolutely no imagination. You must have to be the most stuck up, tight arsed self-loathing prick to be so arrogant as to liken the enjoyment of this to that of a child watching a cartoon. Just enjoy it. I don't see whats wrong in suspending your disbelief and being whisked away to wonderful places (obviously not in a hallucinagenic sense). Just chillax, have a beer and enjoy yourself. No one, though they won't admit this, can say that they enjoy complaining about it being cartoony more than attempting to engage with the film and just have fun. Of course almost all the comments become null when we realise this is a trailer. Traiiilleeerrrrrrrrr. Although if you've seen it in the special i-max showings, fair enough.
I am astounded at some of the reactions people have posted here. First of all, to say it's all motion capture so there is no live acting is an oxymoron. They need the actors to act if they wish to motion capture it; which they did extensively, using a rather ingenious system that allows the actors to do the scene infront of a green screen while the director watches a fully rendered version on his little directors tv thing. Also it was filmed in New Zealand as James Cameroon wanted the actors to be as close as possible to the type of epic landscape they need to convey themselves as being in. While it may be a little predictable in the story, it looks pretty enjoyable with plenty of action (giant robot awesomeness). For people to say that its just cartoony and "Jar Jar Binks bad" is a massive assumption. Also you can tell just by watching it that its not a kid movie (guns, guy getting dragged out of a ship by a monster, blue aliens wearing next to nothing, an emotional story line that isn't as cut and dry as it may seem etc).
Mispelt Sacha Baron Cohen, my bad
Well Borat made my throat and chest hurt for three days because I couldn't stop laughing, this incarnation probably won't be quite as funny but nevertheless promises to be absolutely hilarious. In Sasha-Baron Cohens old programs Bruno was probably the least funny but he seems to have reinvented the character to be up to the task.
As usual a film that could've been so much. Instead they went the easy route of wall to wall computer graphics with hot women and explosions... Also weapons that make no sense, why drop some acid on Paris when you can simply blow it up? Just like Dragon Ball they decided to be main-stream and make a film that doesn't involve thinking, it irritates me profoundly that this film will probably do well at the box-office on grounds of being a big name and thus self-justify more films like it regardless of how terrible it will undoubtedly be.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Looks kinda cool, lots of shooting, lots of explosions but the story seems embarrasingly similar to Death Race.... Also It will probably spark another agonising debate about violence in computer games, one more intense than the one happening in Germany right now
