Must be a gender/generational thing; I haven't read the books, so on first impression this strikes me as a chick-flick with just enough action to keep teenage girls' boyfriends from falling asleep. I didn't see anything in the trailer to make it a must-see in my book; maybe I'll give it a shot when it comes out on DVD.
