Guys...you can't walk into this movie thinking/believing that you're somehow going to see the old familiar faces of Kirk and Spock Bones and the rest of the gang.
That can't be the expectation or you WILL be sorely disappointed and absolutely hate the film.
This is a "new" updated vision/version of the Star Trek mythos that is "based" on the characters and their history before the Original series.
This is a beginning that's set before Kirk even dreams of being a captain....
Hopefully by the end of this 1st film the setup will be complete and in movie # 2 we'll see some of the mannerisms and character interaction we've all been fans of for so long.
But I guarantee that regardless of how well the film is done there will be differences, the actors I'm sure were told to model after, NOT imitate the original cast.
This is a NEW version much like the new Battlestar Galactica...enough to be quite familiar but it obvious truth a very different show.
The intent here is to not re-make the original series as it was down to the last detail, rather breathe a breath of fresh air into the franchise and hopefully boldly go again in search of new adventures with a new generation.
I hope that if we judge the movie on it own and not be picking out the differences that we'll enjoy the film and give the new version a chance!
