The first series was a "mega" hit because of the interaction of the 3 main characters. Kirk, Spock & McCoy represented the Adult, Critical Parent, & Free Child found in Transactional Analysys. If this is remembered and present in the movie, it too will be a hit. If not, then we will have an audiovisual rollercoaster ride, which will be insufficient for those rare humans who like to think.
