It's not a remake; it's a prequel. Which, to me, is just as pointless. We already know how it ends: the creature kills almost everyone at the base and escapes in the form of a dog.... where it later meets up with Kurt Russell and company.
Why not invest the time and money into moving the story forward instead of going back and showing us shit we already know?
