No this is not just like Outbreak. Outbreak was a town getting sick and Dustin Hoffman saving the day and preventing it from going global. Contagion looks to be about how a lethal global pandemic might take place, how we would try to fight it and how we would treat each other during it. Outbreak is to Armageddon as Contagion is to Deep Impact. One's a popcorn movie. The other makes you think.
