@trillionare - First off the 4.4.12 release date is only for the UK, and maybe some other regions out that way. They don't seem to have gotten a wide distribution deal, as they are marketing for requests by anyone who wants the film to be shown in their area (check their official site). Also, get your comments straight. "Griffin" made the overly outraged comments, not "master reviewer." @Griffin - seriously, relax. The director, who is Finnish and doesn't have as close to the same views as you do, spent 6 years getting this movie made. It is his dream project, not a hollywood money-grabber. You might know that if you were an actual film fanatic.

My only complaint is using last-name-only for someone like Liam Hemsworth, who hasn't don't any kind of big action movies, when his brother is the one people would more likely recognize. My guess is they're using the Thor fame as a draw for younger audiences. The name just doesn't belong in the mix with all those top caliber action stars, unless it was actually Chris being referred to.

I think you're missing the point. The whole idea behind this movie is to include all the horror movie cliches and turn them up on their head. One thing you failed to notice is the typical band of characters - the virign, the whore, the jock, the stoner, and the nice guy. And of course the setting takes place in a cabin, in the woods. Now do you think they did this completely oblivious to all the obvious cliches? Considering that I think this trailer is very intriguing, and I am fond of the way Joss Whedon writes his stories. There's clearly a lot not being shown here, and supposedly this is going to be a glorious mind-fuck that pushes the bounds of the horror genre. All I see is a little sci-fi twist, and things "aren't as they seem." But still I'm hopeful; they may have something surprising here.

It is in fact a sequel to the film with Brenden Frasier, who was seemingly replaced by The Rock, and Josh Hutcherson is in both. I never even saw the first, but it looks like this is one of those instances where they made a sequel that's a good enough stand-alone film that you don't need to see the first to be able to follow. And what the hell is with The Rock doing so many sequels to films that he wasn't in in the first place? Fast Five, this, and then GI Joe II. The studios must believe he's a good draw right now. Well, at least he's more entertaining than Brendan Frasier. That much is certain.

I really hate the idea of two different high-profile movies being in production at the same time adapting the same story. At least the two films are polar opposites in terms of tone and the demographic they are reaching for, but it's still just silly to me to have them competing against each other. And I'm sure they rushed to get this trailer out considering Snow White and the Huntsman had theirs out already, and that one is another 3 months out. As much as I understand that these two films won't be competing in the box office together, the rivalry will still exist in the form of people's comparisons of both films. I'm just inclined to assume that they rushed this production just to be the first of the two films in theatres. Immortals was just released, and I for one don't think a director can deliver quality films that are released only 5 months apart. The shtick comedy seems lazy, not funny, and I hardly see much visual effects in the vain of Tarsem's grandiose style. Even if I completely disregard Snow White and the Huntsman, I still wouldn't see this campy piece of junk

Very aware of that. Keep in mind that they're keeping the title of John Carpenter's film, and the story is essentially the same for the groups of characters involved in both, so comparisons are going to be made just as there always is with re-makes.... ALL CAPS TO CONVEY THAT I'M YELLING AT IDIOTS

Tara B. unless you're from Sweden, I can't see why you hold the original films in such high regard. Obviously nobody here agrees with you, and I assume we're all movie buffs here. Fincher has better resources, experience, and a vision that will most likely surpass the Swedish films. This isn't a remake. It's a different take on adapting a story, and I can tell by this trailer that the story seems to play out quite differently - probably closer to the novels, but I never read them. Anyway, you don't have to watch the movie if you don't want to. Complaining accomplishes nothing, save for our annoyance.

Referring to the 2 first comments, it's funny cuz after seeing the first one my initial thought was, "hell yeah Smokin Aces, but let's not forget Narc!." Voiceofreason beat me to it. As a fan of the director I want to give this the benefit of the doubt. Looks like he's trying to do a Neil Marshall flick, which is fine by me cuz he has chops, and better production quality.

The effects look spectacular!! I am so glad to see a red band trailer release for this movie. The first trailer looked good and shows they're sticking to the tone of the original. Now it seems they are fully taking advantage of today's improved effects technology. ::[pause to watch again]:: Looks fucking amazing, can't wait!

I really thought this was supposed to be a frightening movie without all the gags and in-your-face imagery. This trailer is very unfulfilling. The creatures are just silly.

in my face! Sorry didn't realize the reference was to the music. Seemed ridiculous to me to compare this movie to Requiem... Thanks for breaking it down for me in numbered sections. I'll try to keep my fanatical impulses restrained from now on. Anyway I just meant to point out that Evans has a pretty decent body of work not including his comic book hero personas more often seen, so this film is more a return to what he's used to rather than trying something new.

the formula: dolls, the 1800's, drab clothing, ghostly images, and a low-talking girl's voice. I wonder if it will actually be scary.

Sounds absolutely NOTHING like requiem for a dream, except that drug use is involved. In that case every R-rated movie sounds like requiem. Good try with the name-drop though. Movie looks great, and glad to see "mr. clean cut" getting some good roles. If you think Evans hasn't done anything dark, dramatic, or intense before Cap, then do some research! He's been one the most promising leading actors in the mainstream, that's why Johnston chose him.

@Movie-Addict so an actor can't just do a movie because he thinks it might be fun, or just some good action entertainment? I guess he should just rehash a bunch of mobster movie performances that have been done to death. DeNiro has left a great legacy with his early work, and he doesn't need to prove himself. So shut up and let the man do what he wants. Looks like a decent action adventure anyway.

Peter Berg is a fine director, and this film certainly has a good production quality. But how about quality in any other department - story, characters, originality? Not even a decent cast except Liam Neeson, who will do anything for a good paycheck anymore. It's as if the economy has taken us to a point where studios won't gamble huge loads of money on any project unless it's based on a popular franchise that can be made into a PG-13 summer tentpole extravaganza. And they're really scraping bottom with this one. I got one, how about a Connect-Four movie?! Just add a love story, or a love "trianlge" - even better - and center the story around an alien invasion. All you need is red and black circles here and there to remind you that it is a Connect-Four movie. Diaganol!! Didn't see that coming, did you?!

I think Timberlake is a good actor, for what I've seen so far - Alpha Dog, Social Network, and of course I always love him on SNL. But in a role like this one he has to sell the suspense of the film and show more diverse qualities as an actor by showing fear and despair. He's not just playing a real world character, which he can do usually by bringing himself to the role, he also needs to show that he can do shoot-out/fight scenese without looking corny. I am just merely skeptical.

I just don't buy J.T. in these types of roles. Sci-fi action is out of his domain. Cillian Murphey however can do any movie and bring a major redeeming quality to it.

I really don't see why most of you think the rap doesn't fit with this trailer. With all the flashing action shots, almost like the video is pulsating with the rhythm, it's very intense and actually gives me chills every time I watch it. I love the aggressive style of Eminem's vocals, and I don't even like rap. I'm a metal head.

It's going to be the exact same story, even if it is a prequel. The same events take place for the Norwegians before the dog gets to the American base, and then it happens all over again. So my guess is that they leave it open to do a sequel that would be a direct remake of Capenter's classic. And for fuck's sake, all this complaining about this and that - it should be in Norwegian with subtitles, there shouldn't be a female in the lead role, it looks like AVP, I should have written the movie - who cares?! I just hope it keeps with the high tension paranoia between the characters throughout the film, and that they all get their fair screen time. I hate when there's a large ensemble cast and half the characters are just there to be killed, and we're left not caring.

Gordon's just saying that evil is rising and the Batman needs to come back. I'm curious as to why he's hospitalized. And it seems he's talking to Bruce Wayne, so I wonder if he knows his identity and he's pleading him to don the cape again. The last shot gets me so pumped to see what Bane has in store for Wayne. Hey that rhymed.

well said "johncford." I love when these types of movies actually have a decent budget. With a cast like this, we can definitely expect a quality movie.

agree with "Left4dead2." After the 2nd film the series teetered to merely please the torture-porn fans. This one looks a lot like the 2nd, the best in my opinion thus far. I really hope Tony Todd's character is involved more and maybe we'll see if he actually has some other connection to the plot, besides just being a creepy guy who happens to know a lot about Death. I still haven't seen the last installment, and I still don't care to. Got a feeling this one will redeem the franchise.

A period movie by David Cronenberg? I love everything the man does, this could certainly be his chance for the Oscar, but given his repertoire, and the clear controversial nature of the material here, who knows... fingers crossed

This looks promising. Bousman is an ambitious director, and this certainly looks a lot better than James Wan's first diversion from Saw, Dead Silence. I quite enjoyed Insidious, tho despite a teetering final chapter, the overall directing and execution was engaging and effective. Bousman has a real chance to put Saw behind him as well and deliver us something fresh and hopefully not another lame mystic/supernatural/cult nonthriller, a genre I'm not a fan of either, but this does look pretty ok maybe good.
