Maybe, I'm not so sure that a rubber suit would have been any more believable given the context of Green Lantern. Besides, it does't THAT silly.

Some of you say you can't place Johnny Depp's voice, but it's hard to miss. The thing is, unlike some actors I can think of, Depp's got actual range. If you're trying to compare this Rango voice to, say, Capt Jack or Willy Wonka or Hunter S or Sweeney Todd, of course it's not going to sound right. But it is him.
