Yes, cheese, it does. But the apocalypse is heavy shit, and someone has to poke fun at it.
This is the End
Red Band Trailer
It seems like the closest we've ever come to an Evangelion movie. I can't tell yet if that's good or bad.
I'm expecting a psychotic nightmare from start to finish. Here's hoping.
The ABCs of Death
Red Band Trailer
Whether you were replying to me or not, IHTC, trun is right. I was referring to the subtlty of the trailer, how it didn't exploit the comic book imagery until the end, allowing us to see them as people, as characters to be identified with, rather than crazy people flying around in costumes. As cool as a superhero movie is, a character piece is always better. But I like your parkour comparison regarding that final sequence, that was a fine observation.
The Amazing Spider-Man
I remember Martin Freeman from his time as Arthur Dent. Here's another fine journey to follow him through. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Looks like a stab at not ONLY arabic dictators. The beard says Bin Laden but the hair says Kim Jong Il. I think the Dictator is meant to be a parody of all those guys. He's following the example of Charlie Chaplin in this way. I hope it's just as funny, although Cohen can be a hit or miss.
It's not hard to beat the original GIJoe film, and at least the sequel trailer didn't make me want to vomit [motherfucking Wayans]. I only ever saw the first one as a nerd obligation [library rental, refused to pay for it], but this might actually be a movie. Not saying that I think it'll be good, but it ought to be better.
G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation
The girl is supposed to be topless all the time, I think. I've never seen a drawing of her with a shirt, she always looks like a royal stripper.
I dunno, maybe it's too early to call, but I remember that book, and it seemed like the world without the trees was bleak, grimy, and gray compared to the ecstatic colors of the forest where the Lorax lived. Ted's neighborhood is too colorful and optimistic, it doesn't reflect the mood of the book. They're softening the blow of the environmental theme, and that can't go unsaid.
Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
That kid is hilarious. Also, Neil Patrick Harris.
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas
Red Band Trailer
The first one was alright, so sure, I'll watch that. Anything that keeps Nicholas Cage away from Superman can only be a good thing. But no jelly beans or Carpenters, please. These things do not make a biker from hell.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
Interesting. What I like is the fact that if you saw this playing in the previews, and they hadn't mentioned his name, it might take someone a little longer to realize that this trailer was for a Spider-Man movie. It looks like they went ahead and adopted the Ultimate Spidey plotline, which hopefully pays off. And I'm glad they went with analog webshooters with this version. As long as it fits logically into the plot.
The Amazing Spider-Man
Finally, a film version of Bane with more than a one word vocabulary. At least I expect so. The Nolans have done us a good turn so far, let's hope they can carry us thru to the end.
The Dark Knight Rises
If only it wasn't so fuzzy. If only I'd been there. But I will be, next year. Avengers Assemble
Bootleg Teaser Trailer
Eight comments and only one of you took a shot at his mask? Alright, now I think we're making progress! This definitely is the best trailer yet, and I hope the film lives up to our expectations. I feel like it will, but I need to see it to know.
Wasn't Anton Yelchin the president of Russia or something? My grasp of global politics is not that good. There doesn't need to be a Smurf movie. Just like there didn't need to be a Chipmunks movie. It's just not something that should have been allowed to happen. Read my lips: DO. NOT. WANT!
One more revival. Yay. Although, they are the Muppets. At least there's that.
Oh I dunno ta13, I thought the last one was pretty good too. Dunno why everyone keeps picking on the mask, but I'm more pumped for this movie than ever, if such a thing is possible.
An end of the world film that doesn't involve aliens, viruses, wars, or other over-the-top digital effects? Well, that's a welcome switch.
Looking good. Confidence in this franchise has diminished since X3 and Wolverine [although I personally loved the latter], so it's important to regain that confidence, and I hope this film is where they get it.
X-Men: First Class
If you're gonna pull something like this, you better be damn sure you're doing it right. And get the WHOLE trailer next time, alright?
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Glad you think so, Hairy. And I don't think that's Legion, onikage. I think that may be Parallax.
Maybe it is a little weird, BO, but it's not that far off from the comic version, and as an accessory to the CG suit it just makes sense.
Yes. I think we may have a keeper here. I'm anxious to see what they've put together here.
No, no, no, just... no... This is one property we really didn't need coming back.
Okay now, this is one CG flick I don't mind coming back for more.
Kung Fu Panda 2
Puss in Boots? In his own movie? Eh, sure, why not?
Puss in Boots
Stuff it, Wells.
Also, regardin the fan trailer, I admit I would have liked to see Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan too, but there's no use dwelling on what it isn't. I say let's focus more on what it is and what it can be.
You know what the design of the rings/lanterns/costume reminds me of? Superman, and how the whole of Krypton was made up of crystals. What didn't line up with the comics was chosen to enhance the cinematic experience. Clearly they were trying to go more "alien" with the corps and the lanterns than what we see in the comics, and that's no small feat. I am a huge Green Lantern fan and I'm willing to wait until I know more before I render any final judgement. And regarding the apparent lighthearted mood here, I think they're trying to strike a mood comparable to Iron Man more than Dark Knight.
