I still think Alice Sebold is a bold and wonderful writer, but her work did not carry the same weight in the end as it started in the beginning. Forgiving Ararat by Gita Nazareth would make a more fulfiling read.
Movie-wise, let's just say I was hoping for more substance than just a plethora of CGI.
