Yamada Nagamasa, a young 17th Century Samurai, came to be a soldier in the Japanese volunteer regiment in Ayothaya (Thailand). After being critically injured in battle, Yamada was taken to a warrior priest who imparted the knowledge of Thai boxing and sword fighting. His expert ability with the blade combined with his martial arts skills made him one of the best fighters of his time. After learning the ancient arts, Yamada passed the fighting competition held to select the fiercest combatants to rise quickly as one the elite royal guards of King Naresuan the Great.
