Oops!Shoot, SPOILER ALERT in my previous post. Don't read my next post unless you've read the book. Sorry about that, haha.

Characters/EndingI saw the preview for the movie before hearing of the book, so I bought the book with Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana in mind. I think I'm lucky in that sense because I grew attached to them while I was reading and now I can't picture anybody else in their roles.
I was hoping that the book would end with Alba having time traveled and saved Henry. In the end, I thought that after 43 year old Henry saw 82 year old Clare and then vanished, it would end with a 90 year old Henry still being there. So I'm a bit heartbroken, but I loved this book dearly!

T.T.WThe first time I saw this book it was abandoned in a parking lot at Sam's, I took it along with some other books, and I'm reading it right now. I'm not that big on reading, but this book has truly drawn me in. I hope to finish the book before the movie comes out. Good luck to the cast & crew.

Looks good but reminds me of a tv showThis movie (I have never read the book sorry) reminds me of the best T.V. show that was cancelled a few seasons ago. Journeyman was my favorite show and this seems so much like it right down to the -not able to control the times he timetravels- aspect. In the show actor Kevin McKidd plays Dan Vasser a newspaper reporter Dan is the main protagonist of the series, who finds himself jumping through time, unable to stop or control the jumps.

POSTSIt elates me how so many fans of the book have taken the time to comment. And the fans have never been MORE right. There are so many HUGE and tragic moments in the book. Still, before anyone watches this movie, they NEED .. NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED to read the book.
I'm most worried about the sub-plots. I've heard that Harry DOES NOT have the INJURIES he recieves . . . to the readers, you know this is paramount. I've also heard that certain victims of certain sefl-affflicted actions are also removed from the plot. This will affect the movie . . . as they are crucial to the plot development.
With that said, sometimes (not often) a great and open director and an incresingly affective studio can and will produce a product that is near or is at least worthy of the novel. Obviously changes need to be made, the novel is a big read but a good one. The adaptation to screen is impossible at best but, if the end result is at least a product that most fans will be happy with then, that's all we can ask for.
HEADS UP: It will be different . ..it will be altered . .. but, if readers keep an open mind then maybe we'll receive a feeling we didn't get from the book. Maybe . . .JUST maybe, we'll see an alternate ending and feel something along the lines of how we'd wishe the book may have ended before we got to it's actual ending.
Does that make sense?

Im still excitedso since Im still very very much excited cause of the trailer release I do not know if I am being coherent or anything, here it goes:
since Ive fallen in love with so many books that have ended up with big screen adaptations I can tell u that my hopes are not that up... of course since TTW is my fave book & its pretty much obvious that I have to hope for a really good adaptation... if not then Ill always have the book and the characters as I first picture them in my mind.
the trailer... it tells pretty much everything, for me at least (me & everyone who has read the book) I mean i think its a pretty good summary & I think it also catches the new audience, as in people who hasnt read the book.
I dont know specifics about the script so I cannot comment on that subject... that will come out when I get to, actually, see it.
Rachel Mcadams gives so much power, feelings & emotions as Clare that I think it will be great! and Eric Bana, as far as Ive seen does it very good too.
the song they put I think its pretty much perfect! I do love Lifehouse so for me it was really a great choice.
the cons are: Clare hair is supposed to be almost copper like as in color refers, Albas is supposed to be dark brown as Henrys... and the rest I cannot tell cuz I havent visited Chicago or all the places they talked about... I just get to picture them.
so now Im going to read it again for like the 9th time.
and get to see the trailer again... like the 9th time too.
thanks for posting it!
and I hope my lil "review" helps someone.
greetings from Chile

Please don't let them screw this upI fell in love with this book and have become quite obsessed with it. I am happy to finally see a trailer for the movie - AT LAST!
The book embodied the essence of having ONE TRUE LOVE. The trailer depicts the happiness of this love story. However, if the movie glosses over the tragedies that befall Henry and Clare it will be a shame and betray all the fans of the book. Also, if the movie depicts Claire as a whinning "victim" of circumstances then that is wrong as well.

SOMETHING NEW... ACTUALLYSo . . . i've read the novel. How can I help?
I purposely choose not to rip apart the trailers for movies that stem from adaptations. Honestly, it's near impossible to re-create to magic/emotional lift you get from reading finely written pages. For instance, NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN: Great adaptation . . . but the novel offers so much more. ANGELS AND DEMONS & DA VINCI CODE . .. YES, two different sides of the spectrum as far as adaptations go but, you can easily see where creativity comes into play against corporate/studio input is involved.
I was relectant at first but, I became a massive . . . MASSIVE fan of the novel. And there are a few things everyone should know about the project .. here goes:
First of all . . .it's PLAN B. This means, Brad PItt's company. Although the company has done some great films, sometimes they fall short. See TROY and RUNNING WITH SCISSORS.
OK so . . . the book is simply to layered to put to film. From what I read (SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO INTENDS TO READ THE BOOK) Henry looses his legs, which causes his death. Not only is that a crucial part of his time travel saga AND story, it also makes and eventual perfect ending. The film makers have skipped that part of the story . . . and it wouldn;t surprise me if they skipped Henrys Doctor . . . (in case he IS in the movie, i'll refrain from mentioning his name/rumoured casting)
I've never read "acces"". So I can't make a comparison. Sorry.
But, this will be a classic case of book to film adaptation that will inevitably have a split opinion about A) Whether it was a good idea in the first place and B) if it was a good/honourable adaptation.
Fans of the book will see it and some people will enjoy it.
I just recommend reading the book. It's magic.
If you have specific questions on the book . . .I'm usually as hungover as I am right now on Wednesdays, Friday afternoons and every other Sunday.
Thank you for TRAILER ADDICT.
All the best to all of you,
jg

Something New? REPLYhi

Something new? This histroy recalled me of "Acces" that character from the "Marvel Vs DC" universes story, Do you remember?
Of course that was traveling alternative universes, and this is time traveling, that change could make the story very interesting.
I would like someone that has read the novel by Audrey Niffenegger to give his opinion.

Looks Great, RachelThe movie looks great, though it all stands on Rrachel's shoulders. Eric is a llitte wooden on the acting but Rachel just brings such warmth to it.

...by its cover. It could turn out great or it could turn out awful.
If you never judge a book by it's cover then we can't judge a movie by its trailer. However, the book was incredible . . . it'll be hard for any filmmaker to capture its magic.
I wish this movie well though . . .and of course, i'll see it
