The Fantastic Mr. Fox

Trailer

Upscale Font Trailer for The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The stop-motion film, marking Anderson's first foray into animation, is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's story, centering on a clever fox who must outwit three mean, dimwitted farmers who try their hardest to hurt Mr. Fox and his family. Clooney will voice Mr. Fox, while Blanchett voices his wife.

Quirky
At first glance the animation looks cheap and dated and, well, kind of creepy. But after watching the whole trailer it seems that the unique style really works with the sense of humor and atmosphere. Cute and quirky, I don't think the style will distract much from the film itself. It just doesn't make such a good impression on the general public in trailer form (presumably because people are too busy gawking at the animation than listening to the dialogue).

Anyway, I certainly think this movie is worth a look.

Another Great Wes Anderson Film
People saying the animation and shot setup isn't good, read belvedere productions comment. Completely correct. Fact about Wes Anderson: he is know for being unique and having his own style. You watch a Wes Anderson movie, you can tell it's a Wes Anderson movie. And this one is no different.

The animation is done well AND is unique at the same time, which can be hard to do. I think it looks great. Excited? You bet.

what are you smoking?
the look is called style. Look at wes anderson films in general, lots of centered and frontal shots. quit being so stupid and go watch ice age 3.

Exciting
I just love Roald Dahl. so even though details are low, expectations are high...

exciting - though I had higher expectations
I love stop motion films, but I have to agree with Noodles2go - the framing in the shots are not nearly as cinematic as other recent films in this genre.

pathetic
The amount of work that goes into these stop-motion films is phenomenal. These comments are just from grumpy nerds with no girlfriends who don't appreciate talented film-making!

Can't wait for this!!

Hard to Say
Though the dialogue is hilarious, the look looks cheap
by thescreamingdrills | July 30, 2009, 5:04PM
unexpected
I was not prepared for this. Not sure what to think.

Boring Shots
Does anyone else realized like 75% of the shots are centered and frontal? with the rest being in profile? Animation isn't nearly and polished as the likes of Coraline or Nightmare before Christmas.

At the very least though, the humor seems good.

Lame
Doesnt look funny, and the stop motion is not so good.

Schwartzman - Murray connection...
So, do Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson hang out together? Because it sure seems like they are in a lot of movies together. Looks like this one will be really great!

I dunno...
It certainly looks like it won't run low on laughs, but I can already tell the stop motion animation here isn't half as detailed as in Coraline.

wicked cool
This looks... what's the word?... it rhymes with crantastic...
