Sucker Punch

This is one of the best movies of the year so far, in my opinion. I've just seen it today, and I have to say, I was blown away. Yes, I also saw some people who walked out on it in, but I guess they just didn't understand what this was all about. They probably came in to watch some cool little popcorn flick with nice visuals, and got something else for their money. I'm as fond of decent popcorn flicks as the next guy, but this is not one of them.

For this is a movie you have to pay attention to, and work it out for yourself. The plot develops on multiple levels, corresponding to different levels of psychological consciousness and/or insanity, and it is choke packed with symbols and archetypes, so much so that it is difficult to say what is the reality (in the terms of the story) behind the imaginary. Though it won't be necessary, it won't hurt either to have some superficial knowledge of psychology and mythic archetypes beforehand - for those who know what I'm talking about, think Hero's Journey.

Don't get me wrong, there are some very nice visuals, the scenes are breathtaking, but if you're going in unprepared, expecting only a flick with explosions and hot chicks, you will be disappointed, for the scenes won't make any sense to you. Go in with an open and attentive mind, and reap the rewards.

I just walked out of an $80 million music video... I had to; The sooner I could warn people to avoid Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, the better. How on Earth could the creator of 300 and Watchmen offer up this combination of kiddie porn and garbage? Seriously, if I could give this film a grader lower than F, I would. It’s THAT bad.

This movie looks amazing for CGI and the women look fabulous. I read a leak on this months ago at ElectricFeast.com they have already reserved me some seats for the premire of this fabulous film.

Gigant samurai mecha w/ minigun, dragon, more mecha, robots, girl in miniskirt with a katana... best movie ever!

I cannot wait to see Suckerpunch! The special effects, storyline...everything! Kind of reminds me a bit of a Tarantino film (which is cool) with 300 esque special effects. Marking this on the calender!

your being a little harsh arn't you i mean there is alot of skill put forth in his film the pure stylization alone allways blows me away his use of colour and timing always give amazing mood and the angles are always appropriate never giving away to much but never leaving you woundering whats happenening. Sure there are alot of big explosions and action and beautiful women doesnt mean you cant step back and enjoy the ride and it hardly makes the man a bad director for making a movie for a age group more than another pritty well every movie is made for a certain group of people it seems unfair to critsize him for chooseing the youth.

I think that 2 minute trailer alone could be the greatest movie i have ever seen in my llife! If i didn't know better i would swear this movie was made just for me! has everything i go to the movies to see.

This movie is just plain kick ass. I loved it. I live 1 mile from Missouri. The characters in this film shop at the Wal Mart in my town.

I still think he's a visionary. While some of Hollywood is preoccupied with style over substance, I think he's one of the few that is able to marry both. I just wish the line from Scott Glenn was "a weapon" instead of "a knife". Still looking forward to it, though. :P

Trailer was weak and why do I get the feeling this film is going to disappoint like Zacks's last film which had owls.
