T for TiberiusTiberius, definitely. May SOUND like "Siberius", but then he wouldn't be James T. Kirk, would he?

"siberius"To Dave01: The line was said wrong, but since this trailer was released on the web, they went in and did ADR to correct it. The trailer in the theaters is the corrected one.

YESReserving judgement on a few of the casting choices, but I am sure once the movie starts I will forget all about them. I haven't seen the story line, but I hope they remember that Spock was onboard Enterprise long before Kirk becomes Captain.

'Siberius' V. 'Tiberius'I caught the trailer on HDNET 'Trailerrama'sci-fi special. I used the closed-caption option on my tv and when the kid says his name the closed-caption typed out ...James 'Siberius' Kirk!?! So is the closed-caption wrong? What's the truth? Has anyone asked JJ Abbrams?

The mistakeTo Mindbringer: This could probably be explained.
I was never a trekker, but the movie has my attention. I never knew Kir's middle name before seeing this trailer. We don't know that it wasn't just an outtake that was accidentally edited into the trailer.
Also, tot KieranMullan: The shiny look may be because of the fact that, in the movie, the Enterprise IS new. Also, it's ironic that you mention SW, as George Lucas was the one who was trying to make everything look used, anyway. You're just thinking CG. And none of the sets for corruscant could look all that used on film, judging by the solidity of the colors.

Siberius vs. TiberiusSorry, but, when it first came out, the online trailer definitley had the kid saying "Siberius" NOT "Tiberius". They did fix that in the trailer seen at theaters. There was no sibilant confusion! We all noticed it immediately! It was such a bad mistake, that I assumed it was for real and there was some story about how it got changed to Tiberius coming out in this movie. However, it appears to have been an actual mistake. Sort of scary and forboding for what the movie as a whole may bring for serious Trekers...

OMGI hate when some young punk asshole wants to re-imagine something. Kirk was assigned to the USS Farragut after he completed Starfleet Academy. I am going on what has been stated in TOS.

Paramount suxHey, Paramount studios! Thanks a lot for pullling the new STAR TREK trailer. I guess you don't want a bunch of free publicity for your new movie? Fine. I won't mention it or post it again...

"shinny and new"?why SHINY and new?
because the Enterprise is brand new.
Did you not learn anything about this movie before watching the trailer?

Re: what?He says "Tiberius." Sibilants like T and S can be ambiguous especially when string together (like in JameS Tiberius).
I also cannot wait to watch this movie. There are a few continuity holes (most of the original series' Enterprise crew would not have been serving under Christopher Pike, especially Chekov), but then, there have always been continuity holes in Star Trek (like Chekov recognizing Khan Singh in The Wrath of Khan).
It looks like it will stand well on its own. And I disagree with KieranMullen: they've captured the look and feel of the original series very well, just updated it.

WhyWhy do they insist on making everything all shinny and new when it was not that way on the original. It does not seem authentic enough. Did they not learn anything from the Star Wars sequels?
